Flashcarded ("we," "our," or "us") is a flashcard application that helps you learn and retain information using spaced repetition. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our service.

Account Information
When you sign in to Flashcarded, we collect:
Email address — used to identify your account and associate your flashcards with you
Authentication data — provided by our authentication provider (Auth0) to verify your identity
User-Generated Content
When you use Flashcarded, we store:
Flashcards — the question-answer pairs you create
Decks — the collections you organize your flashcards into
Review history — your study session data, including card ratings (Again, Hard, Good, Easy) and review timestamps, used to calculate optimal review schedules
What We Do NOT Store
Chat conversations — We do not store, retain, or have access to your ChatGPT conversations. When you ask to create flashcards, only the specific text you provide is temporarily processed to generate cards, then discarded. We only store the resulting flashcard question-answer pairs, not the source material.
Automatically Collected Information
We may collect:
Usage data — such as when you create cards, review sessions, and general app interactions
Error logs — to diagnose and fix technical issues
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
Provide the service — create and store your flashcards, organize decks, and schedule reviews using spaced repetition
Improve the service — understand how users interact with Flashcarded to make it better
Prevent abuse — enforce usage limits and protect against misuse
Third-Party Services
Flashcarded uses the following third-party services:
Auth0 — Handles authentication. Receives your email and login credentials.
Cloudflare — Provides hosting and infrastructure. May receive request data and IP addresses.
OpenRouter — Powers AI-generated flashcard creation. Receives the conversation context you provide (not stored).
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Data Retention
Your flashcards and review history are retained as long as your account is active
You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:
Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS)
